Rome vs Islam: 14 Centuries of Unbroken Conflict

Fourteen Centuries of Conflict Between Rome and Islam

Written by: Ḥāmid Kamāl al-Dīn

Rome's Identity and Historical Hostility Toward Islam

If one were to ask: Which nation has remained in continuous conflict with Islam for the past fourteen centuries? The only answer would be: Rome.
The ḥadīths also reference various aspects of Rome, describing how when one horn breaks, another rises.

In our era, it's important to ask: Which “horn” of Rome is currently engaged in bloody conflict against Muslims?

European Expansionism and the Role of the Ottoman Caliphate

Europe was once a small continent that soon became overcrowded for its population. Its nations sought new lands—but the most fertile and desirable regions, such as Shām (Syria), Egypt, Libya, Algeria, and others, belonged to the Muslim Arabs.

The Ottoman Caliphate served as a formidable barrier.
Because of its strength, the Mediterranean Sea remained under Muslim control, and no foreign power could cross without permission.
This hindered European expansion toward Muslim territories, compelling them to turn across the Atlantic toward the “New World.”

European Colonization and Crusader Legacy in the New World

European nations colonized America, Australia, and other regions, embedding their civilization and the dominance of the Bible and the Cross.

Today, these very nations—known in Islamic traditions as “Rome” or “Banū al-Aṣfar”—are dominant powers in America, Europe, and Australia.

Had it not been for the Ottoman Caliphate, the fate of Muslims might have been the same as that of the Native American tribes (Red Indians).

Modern Crusades: The Role of America and NATO

Western Strategy Against the Muslim World

After leadership shifted from Europe to America, the same hatred and enmity toward Islam continued.
From NATO to the World Bank, the United Nations, and other global forums, America leads every conspiracy against Muslims.

All over the world, attacks are being carried out on Muslim interests, with Israel, India, and others receiving full support from the West.

Military Campaigns: Afghanistan, Iraq, and Beyond

From the invasion of Afghanistan to the wars in Iraq, Palestine, and Kashmir, the United States and its allies are bent on subjugating the Muslim world.

According to prophetic narrations, the current “horn” of Rome views its war against Muslims as sacred, even in the age of secularism.

Fear of a Revived Caliphate

Western powers are especially afraid of the re-establishment of the Islamic Caliphate.
The revival of the Caliphate would require intellectual, cultural, and spiritual reform among Muslims—something the West seeks to prevent.

This is why they have launched attacks on Islamic education systems and media, to distance Muslims from their Islamic identity and vision of Khilāfah.

The Media War

Through influence on Muslim education and media, the West aims to strip Muslims of their identity.
Western media, whether television or social platforms, is actively working to distort the true teachings of Islam and to demonize Jihād.

Predictions of America's Decline

After Communism—America's Turn

When Francis Fukuyama celebrated the fall of the Soviet Union by declaring “the end of history” and the victory of the West, he was proven wrong.

Just as Communism fell, so too America and Western dominance are now heading toward collapse.

Islam as the Alternative System

Islam offers the world a superior alternative in the form of:

Justice
Economic balance
Family structure
Spiritual peace

Only Islam provides a solution to the flaws of capitalism and Western civilization.

Conclusion: Time for Islamic Revival

The decline of the West is near, and it is time for Muslim forces to awaken.
If the Ummah returns to its faith, unity, and struggle (Jihād), no force can stand in its way.

Preparation is essential now—so that Muslims may once again lead the world.
