Rome and Bani al-Asfar in Prophecies: History, Wars, and Future Role

✦ Prophetic Insights on Rome and Bani al-Asfar: History and Future Conflicts ✦

✦ Introduction

This article sheds light on the historical and future role of Rome (the West) and Bani al-Asfar (light-skinned European nations) in the light of authentic ahadith. According to prophetic traditions, major confrontations will occur between Muslims and the Romans, and these conflicts will continue until the appearance of the Dajjāl.

✦ The Reality of Rome and Bani al-Asfar

◉ According to Hadith, Rome is a nation that will rise repeatedly with renewed strength, unlike Persia (Iran), which will be overcome after one or two decisive battles.
(al-Muṣannaf Ibn Abī Shaybah 4:206)

◉ Historically, Christianity’s deepest connection has not been with the Bani Isrā’īl, but with Rome and European nations, just as Islam is intrinsically tied to the Arabs.

✦ Prophetic Predictions and Islamic Conquests

◉ According to the narration of Jābir ibn Samurah رضي الله عنه, the Muslims will fight against the Arabs, Persians, and Romans, and Allah will grant them victory.
(Sunan Ibn Mājah, Musnad Aḥmad)

◉ One hadith states that Rome will be conquered before the Day of Judgment, followed by the appearance of the Dajjāl.

✦ Bani al-Asfar and Future Conflicts

◉ Hadith explicitly mentions that a peace treaty will be made between the Muslims and Bani al-Asfar, but they will break this treaty, leading to a massive war.
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)

Imām Ibn Ḥajar al-‘Asqalānī clarified that Bani al-Asfar refers to Roman nations, which today are represented by the Western world.
(Fatḥ al-Bārī)

✦ Virtue of Jihād Against Rome

◉ A Hadith mentions that the first army to attack the capital of Rome (Constantinople) will be completely forgiven.
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)

Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه joined this expedition and was buried near the walls of Constantinople.

✦ Rome’s Dominance in the Modern Era

◉ In today’s world, Western civilization and colonialism represent the modern face of Rome, which continues to confront the Muslim world.
◉ The conflict is no longer just about resources or political dominance, but has escalated into a clash of civilizations and ideologies.

✦ Conclusion

✔ These prophetic conflicts are not limited to past events, but are very much alive in the present and will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Muslim Ummah.
✔ It is essential for Muslims to study their history and understand these prophecies in order to prepare for future challenges.
