Righteous Practices from the Era of Ignorance Preserved in Islam

Narration:
[Reported by Muslim: 1670]

Translation of the Narration:

It is narrated from an Ansari companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upheld the system of Qasāmah as it existed in the pre-Islamic era (Jāhiliyyah).
[Reported by Muslim]

✿ Key Points and Rulings ✿

Certain customs and practices from the era of Jāhiliyyah were praiseworthy, and Islam preserved them.
Among these is Qasāmah, a judicial procedure which originated in the pre-Islamic era and was upheld in Islamic law.

Before taking oaths, conducting thorough investigations, collecting supporting evidence, and cross-verifying claims prove crucial in delivering a fair verdict.

The practice of resolving disputes through fifty oaths and deep inquiry is established in the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Some Hadiths related to the Day of Judgment indicate that even the oaths of non-Muslims are granted legal recognition within Islamic law.
