❖ Question:

Can a father-in-law prevent his son-in-law from contracting a second marriage?

✿ Answer:

A man possesses the right to a second marriage. No individual nor any man-made law can bind or prevent him from this. This permission has been granted by Allah Almighty.

The Command of Allah Almighty:

Translation:

“If you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphans, then marry women of your choice—two, three, or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then marry only one, or those whom your right hands possess. That is more suitable so that you may not incline toward injustice.”
