❖ Question:

Does reciting ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ﴾ three times earn the reward of reciting the entire Qur’an?

✿ Answer:

It is established through several authentic aḥādīth that reciting Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ three times earns the reward of reciting the entire Noble Qur’an.

A ḥadīth narrated from Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه is reported in Musnad Aḥmad and Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Whoever recites ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ﴾ at night has recited one-third of the Qur’an.”

Reference: Musnad Aḥmad: 4/419, 4/318, ḥadīth 23950

Reference: Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī: 2896

Reference: Al-Targhīb wa al-Tarhīb: 2/220

Thus, reciting it three times earns the reward of reciting the entire Qur’an.

It is also narrated from Abū al-Dardā’ رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Is any one of you unable to recite one-third of the Qur’an every night? Indeed, Allah has divided the Qur’an into three parts, and ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ﴾ has been made one part of the Qur’an.”

Reference: Musnad Aḥmad: 6/442, 6/447, 5/195, aḥādīth 28043, 28072, 22048

Reference: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 811

In conclusion, this narration is completely authentic, and according to the Prophetic statement, reciting Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ three times earns the reward of reciting the entire Qur’an.
