Reward for Spending on Oneself and Family for the Sake of Allah
Author: Dr. Muḥammad Ḍiyā’ al-Raḥmān al-A‘ẓamī رحمه الله
A person is rewarded for whatever he spends on himself and on his family members if it is done for the sake of pleasing Allah.
This is as the Prophet ﷺ said to Sa‘d ibn Abī Waqqāṣ رضي الله عنه:
“Know that whatever you spend for the sake of Allah’s pleasure, you will be rewarded for it — even the morsel you put in your wife’s mouth.”
Meaning, you will be rewarded even for the food your wife eats due to your spending on her.
[Ibn ‘Uthaymīn: Nūr ‘alā al-Darb: 13]
