Reviving Ibrāhīm's Legacy and Rejecting Paganism in the Modern Age

Reviving the Legacy of Ibrāhīm (A.S) and Rejecting Shirk

❖ The Virtues of Dhul-Ḥijjah and the Spirit of Sacrifice

The first ten days of Dhul-Ḥijjah, the ritual of sacrifice, and the days of Tashrīq remind us of the timeless legacy of Prophet Ibrāhīm (علیہ السلام) — his devotion, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to Tawḥīd (the Oneness of Allah).

These are not merely days of ritual, but powerful reminders that true faith is demonstrated by sacrificing everything for the sake of Allah. The legacy of Ibrāhīm’s sacrifice and the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ migration and struggle rekindle our religious and civilizational memory.

✿ Ḥajj: A Conscious and Spiritual Journey

The pilgrimage of Ḥajj is more than a ritual; it is a spiritual and intellectual awakening.
– Each pilgrim renews his commitment to the principles of Tawḥīd by retracing the sunnah of Ibrāhīm.

At Mount Ṣafā, the pilgrims recite the timeless declaration of Tawḥīd:

"Lā ilāha illallāh waḥdah, anjaza waʿdah, wa naṣara ʿabdah, wa hazama al-aḥzāba waḥdah."

This declaration is a profound reminder of the destruction of shirk and the supremacy of Tawḥīd.

"What is the matter with you that you do not attribute greatness to Allah? While He has created you through different stages."
(Qur'an Reference)

❖ The Role of the Ummah in Eradicating Shirk

Throughout Islamic history, the struggle against shirk has been a defining feature of the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ.
– The demolition of idols and eradication of polytheistic civilizations were not just military achievements but spiritual victories.

✔ The Sahābah (companions) spread the message of worshiping the Lord of Ibrāhīm, eliminating false deities and pagan rituals.

✿ Revival of Pagan Civilizations: A Dangerous Agenda

Today, certain groups and movements attempt to revive ancient pagan cultures under the guise of "heritage" and "tourism".
– These efforts aim to weaken Muslim identity and desensitize future generations to shirk.
– This is a dangerous agenda and calls for a revival of the true lessons of the Millat-e-Ibrāhīm.

❖ Islamic Civilization and Historical Identity

Islamic civilization is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Prophets.
– Throughout history, Muslims have renounced their pre-Islamic roots and embraced Islam as their sole identity.

Egyptian Muslims view the Pharaohs as symbols of divine punishment.
Iraqi Muslims see Babylonian culture as buried ruins.
Afghan Muslims rejected Buddhist idols, asserting that no civilization apart from Islam has the right to prevail.

✿ The West and Its Pagan Foundations

Modern Western civilization still seeks identity in its pagan past, particularly in:
Greek and Roman mythology,
– Their festivals, days of the week, and cultural traditions are founded on polytheistic beliefs.

They strive to preserve and glorify this heritage, demonstrating that shirk remains central to their civilizational ethos.

❖ The Supremacy of Islam and the Message of Tawḥīd

Every year during Ḥajj and the Days of Sacrifice, the Ummah loudly declares:

"Allāhu Akbar, Allāhu Akbar, Lā ilāha illallāh,
Allāhu Akbar, Allāhu Akbar, wa lillāhil-ḥamd."

These takbīrāt not only reaffirm our faith but stand as a warning against pagan civilizations.
All praise is for Allah, and it is through Tawḥīd that the Muslim Ummah retains its honor and identity to this day.

✿ Duʿā: A Declaration of Faith and Rejection of Shirk

"اللهم تقبل منا، وجهت وجهي للذي فطر السماوات والأرض حنيفاً وما أنا من المشركين... إن صلاتي، ونسكي، ومحياي، ومماتي، لله رب العالمين."

O Allah! Accept from us.
I have turned my face to the One who created the heavens and the earth, devoutly inclined (to Him), and I am not among the polytheists.
Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are all for Allah, the Lord of all worlds.
