✿ «عن أبى هريرة قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم رغم انفه ثم رغم انفه ثم رغم انفه. قيل من يا رسول الله قال من أدرك و الديه عند الكبر أحدهما أو كليهما ثم ليدخل الجنة.» [صحيح: رواه مسلم 2551.]
Translation: Abu Hurairah (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “May his nose be rubbed in the dust, may his nose be rubbed in the dust, may his nose be rubbed in the dust.” It was asked, “Who, O Messenger of Allah?” He (ﷺ) replied: “The one who finds his parents, one or both of them, in old age, yet does not enter Paradise (by serving them).”
2. Parental Disobedience is a Major Sin
✿ «عن المغيرة بن شعبة، قال: قال النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم: إن الله حرم عليكم عقوق الامهات، وواد البنات، ومنعا وهات، وكره لكم قيل وقال، وكثرة السؤال، وإضاعة المال.» [متفق عليه: رواه البخاري 2408، ومسلم 593 عقب 1715]
Translation: Al-Mughira bin Shu’bah (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Indeed, Allah has made it forbidden for you to disobey your mothers, to bury your daughters alive, to withhold (rights) and demand (unjustly), and He dislikes for you idle talk, excessive questioning, and wasting wealth.”
✿ «عن أبى بكر رضى الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: الا انبئكم باكبر الكبائر؟ قلنا: بلى يا رسول الله قال: الإشراك بالله وعقوق الوالدين وكان متكئا فجلس، فقال: الا وقول الزور وشهادة الزور، الا وقول الزور وشهادة الزور فما زال يقولها حتى قلت: لا يسكت.» [متفق عليه: رواه البخاري 5976، ومسلم 87]
Translation: Abu Bakr (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Shall I not inform you of the greatest of major sins?” We said, “Certainly, O Messenger of Allah.” He (ﷺ) said: “Associating partners with Allah and disobedience to parents.” The Prophet (ﷺ) was reclining, but he sat up and said, “Beware of false statements and false testimony.” He continued repeating it until we thought he would not stop.
4. Severe Consequences for Parental Disobedience
✿ «عن بن عمر قال : قال رسول الله : ثلاثة لا ينظر الله عزوجل إليهم يوم القيامة: العاق لوالديه، والمرأة المترجلة، والديوث، وثلاثة لا يدخلون الجنة : العاق لوالديه، والمدمن على الخمر والمنان بما أعطى.» [حسن: رواه النسائي 2562.]
Translation: Ibn Umar (رضی اللہ عنہما) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There are three people whom Allah will not look at on the Day of Judgment: one who is disobedient to their parents, a woman who imitates men in her appearance, and a man who lacks jealousy (about his family’s honor). And three will not enter Paradise: one who is disobedient to their parents, one who is addicted to alcohol, and one who gives something and reminds others of his favor.”
