Were Marwan bin Hakam a Companion (Sahabi) or not?

Alhamdulillah, was-salatu was-salamu ‘ala Rasoolillah, amma ba‘d!
In the book Taqreeb al-Tahdheeb, the following statement is mentioned regarding Marwan bin Hakam:
«لاَ يَثْبُتُ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ مِنَ الثَّانِيَةِ»
"His companionship (Suhbah) is not established from the second category."
This means that among the scholars of Hadith there is a difference of opinion regarding whether Marwan bin Hakam was a Sahabi. His companionship is not established with certainty.
