“Indeed, I know a statement which, if an angry person says it, his anger will leave him:
أَعُوذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
‘I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan.’”
Anger is such a disease that, at times, it causes a person to fall prey to many whisperings. For this reason, seeking refuge (taʿawwudh) has been prescribed.
Similarly, it is mentioned in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim and other books that the Noble Prophet ﷺ taught seeking refuge with Allah on various occasions to protect oneself from whisperings. For the removal of grief and anxiety, one should regularly recite Qur’ānic verses and supplications related to the alleviation of distress.
Such supplications are found in books like Ḥiṣn al-Muslim and other collections of authentic duʿās.
