❀ Question:

What is the ruling on reciting Sūrah al-Kāfirūn and Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ in the Sunnah prayers after Maghrib?

✔ Answer:

This practice is established through a narration found in Musnad Aḥmad, which has been graded ṣaḥīḥ (authentic) by Shaykh Shuʿayb al-Arnāʾūṭ.

The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم recited these two Sūrahs in the Sunnah prayers after Maghrib more than twenty times.

① The recitation of Sūrah al-Kāfirūn in the first rakʿah and Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ in the second rakʿah of Maghrib’s Sunnah is Sunnah based on authentic narration.
② It is a regular practice of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, as indicated by its repetition over twenty times.
③ Therefore, observing this recitation is a commendable and recommended act.
