❖ Question

In Qadāʾ prayers (missed obligatory prayers being made up), should one recite another surah along with Sūrat al-Fātiḥah in the obligatory rakʿāt, or not?

❖ Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!

In Qadāʾ prayers, during the obligatory rakʿāt, another surah should be recited along with Sūrat al-Fātiḥah.

That is, just as in the normal obligatory prayers a surah or verses of the Qur’ān are recited after Sūrat al-Fātiḥah, the same should be done while performing Qadāʾ prayers.
