Raising one’s voice while saying Āmīn in Salah is from the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“When the Imam says Āmīn, then you (also) say Āmīn. For whoever’s Āmīn coincides with the Āmīn of the angels, his past sins will be forgiven.”
“I heard the Prophet ﷺ recite: ‘ghayr al-maghḍūbi ‘alayhim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn’ and then say Āmīn, stretching his voice with it.”
‘Aṭā ibn Abī Rabāḥ رحمه الله, a Tābi‘ī and teacher of Imām Abū Ḥanīfah رحمه الله, said that Āmīn is a form of Du‘ā.
“Ibn al-Zubayr and those behind him said Āmīn so loudly that the entire Masjid echoed.”
“When the Prophet ﷺ finished reciting Surah al-Fātiḥah, he would say Āmīn aloud.”
‘Aṭā ibn Abī Rabāḥ رحمه الله said:
“I saw 200 Companions in the Ḥaram (Masjid al-Ḥarām). When the Imam would say ‘ghayr al-maghḍūbi ‘alayhim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn,’ they would all say Āmīn aloud.”
Many so-called Muslims get angry at those who say Āmīn aloud and even show hatred toward them. But this attitude is not the way of Muslims — it is the way of the Jews.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The Jews do not envy you for anything as much as they envy you for giving Salām and saying Āmīn.”
Sayyidunā Wā’il ibn Ḥujr رضي الله عنه said:
“When the Prophet ﷺ recited ‘ghayr al-maghḍūbi ‘alayhim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn,’ he said Āmīn in a way that I heard it while I was standing behind him.”
