Fatwa by: Former Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Ibn Baz رحمه اللہ
Question:
During Salah, when performing Raf' al-Yadayn (raising of hands), should the hands be raised to the level of the shoulders or the ears? And should Raf' al-Yadayn be practiced throughout the Salah or only in the first rak'ah (i.e., Takbir al-Ula)?
Answer:
It is recommended (mustahabb) to raise the hands to the level of the shoulders or ears at specific points during Salah: at the beginning Takbir (Takbir al-Ula), when going into Ruku' (bowing), and upon rising from Ruku'. Additionally, in the prayers of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha, it is recommended to perform Raf' al-Yadayn when standing up for the third rak'ah after the first Tashahhud. This practice is substantiated by the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
And Allah is the Grantor of success.
