Prophets’ Inheritance in Islam: Left as Charity Not Estate

The Inheritance of Prophets: Their Estate Becomes Charity

Written by: Imran Ayub Lahori

❖ Principle

The inheritance of the Prophets is not divided among their heirs; rather, whatever they leave behind becomes charity.

❖ Evidence

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

لا نورث ما تركناه صدقة
“We [the Prophets] are not inherited from; whatever we leave behind is charity.”
[Bukhārī: 6725, 6726, Kitāb al-Farā’iḍ: Bāb Qawl al-Nabī ﷺ Lā Nūrath Mā Taraknā Ṣadaqah; Muslim: 1758]
