What should I recite when I go to a new place to seek protection from Satan?
Answer:
It is narrated from Sayyidah Khawlah bint Hakim رضی اللہ عنہا that she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say:
『من نزل منزلا ثم قال: أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق، لم يضره شيء حتى يرتحل من منزله ذلك』
“Whoever alights at a place and says: ‘I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created,’ nothing will harm him until he departs from that place.”
[Sahih Muslim, Hadith no. 2708]
The word 『شيء』 in the Hadith is general and includes every harmful thing. Therefore, it encompasses protection from Satan as well as from any other harmful entity.
