What is the ruling regarding wiping (masah) over socks (juraab)?


❖ Answer​


الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام علىٰ رسول الله، أما بعد!


Wiping over socks is permissible, and the athar (reports) from the Companions are a clear proof for this practice.


◈ Scholarly Statement​


  • ʿAllamah Badr al-Din al-ʿAyni al-Hanafi (855 AH) رحمه الله stated:
    "يجوز المسح على جورب"
    "It is permissible to wipe over socks."
    (Minhat al-Suluk p. 70)

◈ Conclusion​

  • Performing masah over socks is permissible in Islam.
  • This ruling is supported by the practice and reports of the noble Companions رضي الله عنهم.
