❀ Question

It is mentioned in a noble Hadith that one should not wear shoes while standing.
However, some individuals present the interpretation (ta'wil) that it is still permissible to wear shoes while standing.
Is there any evidence to support the act of wearing shoes in a standing posture?

✔ Response

الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام علىٰ رسول الله، أما بعد:

In Sunan Ibn Majah, narrations from Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) and Ibn ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) state that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade wearing shoes while standing.

✿ Regarding the Interpretations (Ta'wilat)

✔ As for the various interpretations presented by some regarding this Hadith, the principle in Shari‘ah is:

Any interpretation that is supported by authentic Shar‘i evidence is considered valid.
However, in the current case, to the best of my knowledge, none of the interpretations provided in favor of wearing shoes while standing have any credible Shar‘i basis.

Thus, these interpretations remain unsupported and cannot override an authentic prophetic prohibition.

This is what I know; and Allah knows best what is correct.
