Prohibition of Plucking White Hair, Applying Artificial Hair, and Dyeing

This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.

Prohibition of Plucking White Hair​

① Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:
لا تنتفوا الشيب، فإنه ما من مسلم يشيب شيبة فى الإسلام إلا كانت له نورا يوم القيامة
"Do not pluck white hair, for the white hair of a Muslim in his Islam will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection."
And in another narration:
كتب اللہ له بها حسنة، وحط عنه بها خطيئة
"Allah records one good deed for this one white hair and removes one sin because of it."

Prohibition of a Woman Attaching Another Woman’s Hair to Her Own​

① It is narrated from Sayyida Asma رضي الله عنها that a woman asked the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and said: "O Messenger of Allah! My daughter had smallpox which caused her hair to fall out, and I have married her off. Should I put another woman's hair on her head?" The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
لعن اللہ الواصلة والمستوصلة
"May the curse of Allah be upon the one who attaches hair and the one on whom hair is attached."

Prohibition of Embroidering the Skin​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
والواشمة والمستوشمة
"And the one who embroiders the skin with a needle and applies henna or the one who applies it (embroidery) is cursed."
