⮚ Hadith Evidence

‘Ata bin Yasar رحمه الله said:

“I met ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin al-‘As رضي الله عنهما and asked him to inform me about some of the descriptions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that are mentioned in the Torah.

He said: By Allah! He is indeed described in the Torah with some of the attributes mentioned about him in the Qur’an:

﴿يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا﴾and as a protection for the unlettered. You are My servant and My Messenger; I have named you “al-Mutawakkil” (the Reliant on Allah). You are neither harsh nor hard-hearted, nor one who makes noise in the markets. You do not repay evil with evil, but you forgive and pardon. Allah will not take you until He straightens through you the crooked religion, so that they will say: “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,” and through you blind eyes, deaf ears, and sealed hearts will be opened.
[Bukhari: 2125, Kitab al-Buyu‘, Bab: Karahiyyat al-Sakhib fi al-Suq]

❀ Lesson from the Hadith

One of the noble attributes of the Prophet ﷺ mentioned here is that he would not raise noise or cause commotion in the markets. This shows that making loud disturbances in marketplaces is contrary to good manners and the Prophetic character.
