① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
الحياء من الإيمان، والإيمان فى الجنة، والبذاء من الجفاء، والجفاء فى النار
“Modesty is part of faith, and the end of faith is Paradise, while obscenity and foul speech are from cruelty and hardheartedness, and the end of cruelty and hardheartedness is Hellfire.”

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما that some people said to him: "When we are with our kings, we say certain things to them, but when we leave their presence, we say the opposite of what we said to them." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما said: "In the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, we used to consider this hypocrisy."

② Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما also narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
مثل المنافق كالشاة العائرة بين الغنمين، تعير إلى هذه مرة، وإلى هذه مرة
"The example of a hypocrite is like a goat wandering between two herds; sometimes it goes towards one herd and sometimes towards the other."
Imam Nasai رحمه الله added these words:
"He does not know whom to follow."

③ Sayyiduna Hudhaifa رضي الله عنه states: "The hypocrites of today are worse than the hypocrites of the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم; in that time, they used to hide their hypocrisy, but the hypocrites of today show it openly."

④ Sayyiduna Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه says that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم used to supplicate:
اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الشقاق والنفاق وسوء الأخلاق
"O Allah! I seek refuge in You from misery, hypocrisy, and bad character."

① Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (RA) narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say:
"Indeed, the lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are some doubtful matters which many people do not know. So whoever avoids doubtful matters has protected his religion and his honor, and whoever falls into doubtful matters is like a shepherd who grazes around a pasture, almost grazing in it. Verily, every king has a pasture, and the pasture of Allah is His prohibited things. Verily, in the body there is a piece of flesh; if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupted, the whole body is corrupted. Verily, it is the heart."
