Ruling on Anal Intercourse with One’s Wife​

What is the ruling on anal intercourse with one’s wife?

❖ Answer:​

Engaging in anal intercourse with one’s wife is ḥarām (forbidden) and a major sin (kabīrah).

Scholarly Consensus​

❀ Imām al-Zayla‘ī al-Ḥanafī (749 AH):
"Anal intercourse with a woman is ḥarām by consensus of the jurists."
(Tabyīn al-Ḥaqā’iq, 2/107; al-Baḥr al-Rā’iq, 3/106)


Conclusion:
Anal intercourse is strictly prohibited in Islam, and there is ijmā‘ (consensus) among the fuqahā’ on its prohibition.
