Author: Dr. Muhammad Zia-ur-Rahman A‘zami رحمه الله
Chapter: What Has Been Reported Regarding Sincere Advice

«باب ما جاء في النصيحة»

✿ Sincere Advice Is a Core Principle of Islam

Narrated by Jarīr ibn ‘Abdullāh (رضي الله عنه):

I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to establish prayer, pay Zakāt, and to offer sincere advice to every Muslim.
[Muttafaqun ‘alayh: Al-Bukhārī 1401, Muslim 56]

❖ Key Lessons:

① Offering naseeḥah (sincere advice) is a religious obligation and a right owed to fellow Muslims.
② The pledge of allegiance during the Prophet’s ﷺ time included core pillars of Islam, such as prayer, Zakāt, and goodwill toward the Ummah.
③ True brotherhood involves caring for the spiritual and worldly well-being of others.
