This excerpt is taken from the book Ṣaḥīḥ Ṣalāh al-Nabawī ﷺ, authored by al-Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ʿAzīz, published by Maktabah Dār al-Andalus.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about offering prayer on a boat, so he ﷺ said:
صلِّ فيها قائمًا إلا أن تخاف الغرق
“Offer prayer on it while standing, unless you fear drowning.”
❀ Based on analogy from the above ḥadīth, scholars have permitted offering prayer on airplanes, trains, and similar means of transport.
❀ Before beginning the prayer, one should determine the direction of the qiblah.

❀ Prayer may be performed on a ship or boat.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about offering prayer on a boat, so he ﷺ said:
