"Please share some effective supplications that one can recite during times of hardship or difficulty."✿ Answer
Wa ʿalaykum al-salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhIf you desire ease in all your hardships, In shā’ Allāh, then you should adopt these authentic Sunnah-based supplications which the Prophet ﷺ used in times of distress. Make them part of your daily practice.
① Supplication of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib رضي الله عنه
Arabic Text:«لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، وَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»
Translation:
“There is no deity but Allah, the Most Forbearing, the Most Generous. Glory be to Allah. Blessed is Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the worlds.”

② Supplication of ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd رضي الله عنه
Arabic Text:«يَا حَيُّ، يَا قَيُّومُ، بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ»
Translation:
“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, I seek assistance through Your mercy.”

③ Gabriel’s Instruction to the Prophet ﷺ
Arabic Text:«تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًا»
Translation:
“I place my trust in the Ever-Living who never dies. Praise be to Allah, who neither takes a child nor has a partner in His dominion, and who has no ally out of weakness. And magnify Him with the magnification He deserves.”

④ Comprehensive Dua from ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd رضي الله عنه
Arabic Text:«اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ، نَاصِيَتِي فِي يَدِكَ، مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤُكَ... أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي»
Translation (Excerpt):
“O Allah! I am Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My fate is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed, and Your decree over me is just… I ask You by every name that is Yours… that You make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sorrow, and the reliever of my distress.”
Effect: Whoever recites this with sincerity, Allah will remove his grief and replace it with joy.
