Powerful Prophetic Supplications for Healing and Hardship Relief

◈ Supplication in Times of Ease​


The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever wishes that Allah accepts his supplication during hardship and difficulty, then let him supplicate abundantly to Allah during times of ease.”

◈ Supplication of the Prophet ﷺ for Removing Illness​


Sayyidah ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها narrated: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ruqyah by saying:


Arabic:
إمسح البأس رب الناس بيدك الشفاء ولا يكشف الكرب إلا أنت
Translation:

“O Lord of mankind, remove the suffering. Healing is in Your Hand, and none can remove distress except You.”

◈ Supplication During Severe Grief and Distress​


ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما narrated: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would recite in times of great sorrow:


Arabic:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ


Translation:

“There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, the Magnificent, the Forbearing.
There is no deity except Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
There is no deity except Allah, the Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.”

◈ The Supplication of Prophet Yunus عليه السلام​


The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
The supplication of Prophet Yunus عليه السلام which he made in the belly of the fish is:


Arabic (Qur'an 21:87):
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ


Translation:

“There is no deity worthy of worship except You. You are Glorified. Indeed, I am among the wrongdoers.”


“No Muslim supplicates to Allah with this supplication for anything, except that Allah answers him.”

◈ Additional narration (Imām al-Ḥākim):​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Shall I not inform you of something? Whenever a person is afflicted by hardship or a worldly calamity and supplicates with these words, it will be removed from him.”
The Companions replied: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah!”
He said:
Arabic:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

◈ Words Taught to Asmā’ bint ʿUmays رضي الله عنها​


She narrated:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Shall I not teach you words to say in times of grief and restlessness?” Then he said:


Arabic:
اللَّهُ اللَّهُ رَبِّي لَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا


Translation:

“Allah, Allah is my Lord. I do not associate anything with Him.”

◈ Supplication in Times of Intense Hardship​


The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“When a person is afflicted with severe distress, let him say:”


Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ


Translation:

“O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye, and make all of my affairs upright. There is no deity worthy of worship except You.”

◈ The Prophet’s Supplication When Afflicted​


When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced any hardship, he would recite:


Arabic:
يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ


Translation:

“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, I seek help through Your mercy.”

◈ Easing Hardship by Helping the Debtor​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever wishes that Allah frees him from the terrors of the Day of Resurrection, let him give respite to a debtor in difficulty, or forgive him completely.”

◈ A Word That Saves at the Time of Death​


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There is a statement that if a person says it at the time of death, Allah will save him from hardship.”


Arabic:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ


Translation:

“There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.”

◈ Supplication Taught to ʿAlī رضي الله عنه​


ʿAlī رضي الله عنه said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me to recite this during pain and distress:


Arabic:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْكَرِيمُ
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ


Translation:

“There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, the Most High, the Most Noble.
Glorified is Allah; blessed is Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne.
And all praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds.”

◈ Additional statement of the Prophet ﷺ:​


“Know that relief comes with hardship, and ease comes with difficulty.”
