❖ Question:

Which field of work is permissible for a woman where she can work without violating Islamic teachings?

❖ Answer:

The appropriate field of work for women is that which is exclusively related to women, such as:

✔ The field of girls’ education, whether in teaching or administration,
✔ Or home-based work such as sewing clothes for women, etc.

However, if a woman works in fields primarily associated with men, then it is not permissible, because such environments usually involve mixing between men and women, which is a great source of temptation (fitnah) and must be avoided.

We must recognize that the Prophet ﷺ said:

ما تركت بعدى فتنة أضر على الرجال من النساء، وإن أول فتنة بني إسرائيل كانت فى النساء
[Agreed upon – Muslim, Book of Remembrance and Supplication]

"I have not left behind me a greater trial more harmful to men than women. Indeed, the first trial of the Children of Israel was through women."

Every individual bears the responsibility of protecting their household from all forms of fitnah and its causes.
