I am a patient suffering from magic. I have been undergoing treatment for a long time, but I have not yet recovered. What should I do?
Allah ﷻ says:
“Do the people think that they will be left to say: ‘We believe,’ and they will not be tested?” [al-ʿAnkabūt: 2]
This is a trial from Allah ﷻ. One must be patient upon it while continuing the treatment until benefit is attained.
Allah ﷻ also says:
“And surely We will test you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth, lives, and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient.” [al-Baqarah: 155]
❶ Acceptance of Divine Decree (Qaḍāʾ of Allah):
Be content with Allah’s decree. Some patients utter words of despair like, “I deserve this.” This is incorrect. Trials are not lifted until the servant shows contentment with Allah’s decree.
❷ Patience (Ṣabr):
Recognize that trials carry hidden benefits. Allah ﷻ has said:
“And Allah loves those who are patient.” [Āl ʿImrān: 146]
❸ Halāl Sustenance:
Ensure that your food and earnings are ḥalāl, for this is a means of having your duʿāʾ accepted.
❹ Restoring People’s Rights:
Return the rights and wealth of people to them if you have wronged them.
❺ Avoidance of Ribā (Interest/Usury):
Keep away from all dealings of interest.
❻ Repentance from All Sins:
Turn to Allah in sincere repentance from every sin.
This guidance highlights that spiritual patience, righteous conduct, and persistence in treatment are the keys to overcoming the effects of siḥr (magic).
