How many obligatory acts does ghusl have, and what are they?
Alḥamdulillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʿammā baʿd:
Narrated by Maymunah رضي الله عنها:
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to perform ghusl, he first washed his hands, then washed his private parts.
He then rubbed his left hand (used for washing the private parts) on the ground and washed it.
He rinsed his mouth (madhmadah) and sniffed water into his nose (istinshaq).
He washed his face, then his hands up to the elbows.
He poured water over his head, letting it reach the roots of the hair, and repeated this three times.
He then poured water over his entire body.
After moving from the spot where he had bathed, he washed his feet.
(Sahih al-Bukhari – Kitab al-Ghusl, Bab al-Wudu Qabla al-Ghusl)
Conclusion:
Ghusl has three obligatory acts: wudu, pouring water over the head, and washing the whole body.
Following the Sunnah method ensures both obligation and perfection of the act are fulfilled.
