❖ Importance of Ḥajj in Islam
Ḥajj is one of the pillars of Islam and a foundational obligation of the religion.
No Muslim’s Islam is complete without performing Ḥajj—provided all the conditions that make Ḥajj obligatory have been met.
❖ Why Delaying Ḥajj is Not Allowed
Once Ḥajj becomes obligatory on a person, it is not permissible to delay it.
- The commands of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ must be implemented immediately.
- No one knows what tomorrow holds; it is possible that:
- One may fall into poverty,
- Become sick, or
- Pass away before performing it.
❖ Parents Preventing Their Son from Ḥajj
It is not permissible for parents to stop their sons from performing Ḥajj when:
- All conditions of obligation are fulfilled, and
- The son is travelling with trustworthy companions in terms of religion and character.
❖ Obedience to Parents in This Matter
- If Ḥajj is obligatory, it is not allowed for the son to obey his parents in abandoning it.
- Principle: “There is no obedience to any created being in disobedience to the Creator.”
- However:
- If the parents have a valid Sharʿī excuse, the son may delay Ḥajj until that excuse is removed.
