The measures taken in Islam for the revival of monotheism (Tawheed) and the eradication of polytheism (Shirk) and innovation (Bid'ah) are extremely comprehensive and significant. To prevent the emergence of any trace of polytheism, all potential avenues have been firmly closed.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
اللهم لا تجعل قبري و ثنا"
O Allah, do not make my grave an idol (object of worship). Allah's curse be upon the people who took the graves of their prophets as places of worship.
"[Musnad Ahmad: 1031, with a Hasan chain]
In the entire universe, who is more honorable, revered, and beloved than the Prophet (peace be upon him)? When he (peace be upon him) himself prays for his grave not to be turned into a place of worship, how can it be permissible for anyone else's grave?
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade plastering graves, sitting on them (as guardians), and constructing structures over them. [Muslim: 970]
In fact, the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to demolish and level the structures built over graves. [Muslim: 969] But here, the situation is quite the opposite.
In the quest for power and the security of their positions, shrines are being expanded, complexes are being built over graves, and even replicas of the Haram (Kaaba) veranda are being constructed over them. Despite the fact that those who were previously involved in such activities have already become "signs of warning."
Those who turn towards graves, forgetting Allah alone, do not realize that "Allah grants power to whom He wills and takes it away from whom He wills." [Aal-i-Imran: 26]
No one can withhold what Allah wants to give, and no one can give what Allah withholds. [Bukhari: 844]
Therefore, whether in power or opposition, whether among the masses or the elite, how wonderful it would be if they abandoned wandering here and there and held firmly to monotheism and the Sunnah, striving to please their one and only Allah!
