Taken from: Fatāwā Amunpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amunpuri

❖ Question:

What is said regarding a Mursal Sahabi (a Companion narrating a Hadith without mentioning the intermediary)?

❖ Answer:

The Mursal Sahabi is unanimously accepted as authoritative evidence.

‘Allāmah al-Zarkashi (رحمه الله, d. 794 AH) states:
أما مرسل الصحابة فمقبول بالإجماع كما صرح به بعضهم.
The Mursal narration of the Companions is accepted by consensus, as some scholars have explicitly stated this consensus.
(Al-Nukat ʿala Muqaddimat Ibn al-Salāḥ, 1/500)

Hafiz Ibn al-Mulaqqin (رحمه الله, d. 804 AH) states:
هو حجة بالإجماع إلا من شذ.
The Mursal Sahabi is an authoritative proof by consensus, except for a few isolated opinions.
(Al-Badr al-Munīr, 4/639)
