❖ Question:
How was Sayyidunā ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir رضي الله عنه martyred?
❖ Answer:
Sayyidunā ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir رضي الله عنه was martyred during a civil conflict, just as several other noble Companions were martyred in similar circumstances.
It is a well-established historical fact that he was martyred in the Battle of Ṣiffīn, a confrontation between Sayyidunā ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib رضي الله عنه and Sayyidunā Muʿāwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān رضي الله عنه.
This incident fulfilled the Prophetic prophecy in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"عمار تقتله الفئة الباغية"
“ʿAmmār will be killed by a rebellious group.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 2812, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 2916)
This prophecy came true during the Battle of Ṣiffīn when ʿAmmār رضي الله عنه, fighting on the side of ʿAlī رضي الله عنه, was martyred by forces from the opposing camp.
