Question
What do the scholars of Islam say about this matter: Zayd and ʿUmar are maternal uncle and nephew. Their children both drank the milk of the same woman, thus becoming milk-brothers. Now, after skipping two generations, can their descendants in the third generation establish marital relations or not?
✔ Answer
Alḥamdulillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!
It should be understood that in the third generation they may marry one another. Since there is a generational gap in between, there is no evidence in Sharīʿah to prohibit marriage among them.
