Allah is the Creator of the heavens, the earth, and all creations. He made Adam (peace be upon him) from clay with His own hands and created his spouse, Hawwa (Eve). From them, He propagated the human race. Allah created various sustenances and blessings for humans and living beings, and He is the one who alleviates difficulties, fulfills needs, and responds to cries for help.
Allah Almighty says:
"And if you try to count the blessings of Allah, you cannot enumerate them."
[An-Nahl: 18]
Loving the Lord, who has countless blessings and bounties, is obligatory for every human being.
Allah Almighty says:
"And those who believe are stronger in love for Allah."
[Al-Baqarah: 165]
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
"Love Allah for the blessings He nourishes you with, love me for the love of Allah, and love my family for my love."
[Sunan Tirmidhi: 3789, its chain is good, Monthly Al-Hadith: 26]
Allah Almighty says:
"And be grateful to Allah if you truly worship Him."
[Al-Baqarah: 172]
The complete believers are those who tremble when Allah is mentioned before them. See:
[Surah Al-Anfal: 2]
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
"Three things, if found in a person, will enable him to taste the sweetness of faith: Allah and His Messenger are dearer to him than anything else, he loves a person only for the sake of Allah, and he hates to revert to disbelief as he hates to be thrown into the fire."
[Sahih Bukhari: 16, Sahih Muslim: 43]
A mother loves her child immensely, yet Allah loves His servants far more than that. See:
[Sahih Bukhari: 5999, Sahih Muslim: 2754]
Allah Almighty says:
"Tell My servants that I am indeed the Forgiving, the Merciful."
[Al-Hijr: 49]
Allah Almighty says:
"(Say): O My servants who have wronged themselves, do not despair of Allah's mercy. Surely, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
[Az-Zumar: 53]
Allah Almighty says:
"My love is mandatory for those who love each other for My sake." [Musnad Ahmad, Zawaid Abdullah bin Ahmad 5/328, its chain is authentic]
Loving Allah necessitates that a person always relies on Allah, remains patient and grateful to Him. Once, a Bedouin raised his sword at the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked, "Who will save you from me?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) calmly replied, "Allah." The Bedouin's sword then fell from his hand. [Musnad Ahmad 3/390 Hadith 15190, it is an authentic Hadith, Sahih Ibn Hibban, Al-Ihsan: 2872-2883]
Note:
The narrator of this narration, Abu Bishr Ja'far bin Abi Wahshiya, did not hear directly from Sulaiman bin Qays Al-Yaskari but narrated from his book. Narrating from a book is valid provided there is no criticism or rejection from the scholars on the intermediary. Allah knows best. The story of Ghawrath bin Harith Al-A'rabi is also briefly mentioned in Sahih Bukhari (2910) and Sahih Muslim (843). Ghawrath went back to his people and said, "I have come from the best of people," indicating that Ghawrath had embraced Islam.
The beloved of Allah, Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), loved his Lord so much that even at the time of death, he said, "O Allah, the highest companionship (with You)."
[Sahih Bukhari: 4463, Sahih Muslim: 2444]
