📜 Statement of Imam Mujahid ibn Jabr (رحمه الله)

Imam Mujahid (رحمه الله) said:

Meaning:
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) and Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (رضي الله عنهما) used to go to the market during the (first) ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah) and say the Takbir out loud. The people would then say the Takbir along with them. They would go to the market for this purpose only.

✦ Conclusion

The public and loud declaration of Takbirat during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah is a well-established and sound practice of the Companions. Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Ibn ‘Umar (رضي الله عنهما) specifically used to enter marketplaces solely for the purpose of reminding and encouraging others to recite Takbirat. Their action became a means of collective remembrance of Allah.

Let us revive this Sunnah of the noble Companions and promote the spirit of remembrance in our communities during the blessed ten days.
