How can a woman suffering from leucorrhoea maintain ritual purity for Salah?

Shar‘i Ruling on Leucorrhoea


According to the scholars, discharges from a woman’s body can vary in nature.
Leucorrhoea (white vaginal discharge) is also included in this category. The following rulings apply:



1. Ruling on Leucorrhoea:


Leucorrhoea is considered similar to urine in Sharī‘ah. Therefore:


  • If it comes into contact with the body or clothes, it is obligatory to wash the affected area.
  • Extra care must be taken to maintain cleanliness and ritual purity.


2. Cleaning of Clothes:


✔ If leucorrhoea stains the clothing, the affected portion must be washed.


✔ To prevent it from spreading, it is advisable to wear undergarments or use pads.



3. Method of Purification for Salah:


Before every prayer:


① Wash the area affected by the discharge.
② Perform wudu.
③ Ensure that the body and clothing are clean before offering Salah.



Summary:


❖ Leucorrhoea is treated in Sharī‘ah like urine.
❖ Therefore, it is compulsory to wash any part of the body or clothes affected by it.
❖ For Salah, one must maintain cleanliness and perform wudu after ensuring purification.
