Prohibition of Overeating to Full Stomach

❶ Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
المسلم يأكل فى معى واحد والكافر فى سبعة أمعاء
"A Muslim eats in one intestine, while a disbeliever eats in seven intestines."

❷ In another narration:
A man used to eat excessively, then he accepted Islam and began eating less. When this was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said:
إن المؤمن يأكل فى معى واحد وإن الكافر يأكل فى سبعة أمعاء
"Indeed, a believer eats in one intestine, and a disbeliever eats in seven intestines."

❸ Sahih Muslim narrates:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ hosted a disbelieving guest and ordered a goat to be milked for him. He drank its milk. Then another was milked and he drank it, and so on until he drank the milk of seven goats. The next morning, he accepted Islam. The Prophet ﷺ ordered a goat to be milked for him; he drank its milk, then another was milked but he could not finish it. The Prophet ﷺ then said:
إن المؤمن يشرب فى معى واحد والكافر يشرب فى سبعة أمعاء
"Indeed, a believer drinks in one intestine, and a disbeliever drinks in seven intestines."

❹ Al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdī Karib (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
ما ملأ آدمى وعاء شرا من بطن...
"No human ever filled a vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few morsels to keep his back straight. But if he must (eat more), then one third for his food, one third for his drink, and one third for his breath."

❺ Abu Juhayfah (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
فإن أكثـر الـنـاس شبعا فى الدنيا أكثرهم جوعا يوم القيامة
"Indeed, those who are most full in this world will be the hungriest on the Day of Judgment."

❻ Ibn ʿAbbās (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
إن أهل الشبع فى الدنيا هم أهل الجوع غدا فى الآخرة
"Indeed, those who are full in this world will be the hungry ones tomorrow in the Hereafter."

❼ In Sahih al-Bukhari:
إنه لياتي الرجل العظيم السمين يوم القيامة فلا يزن عند الله جناح بعوضة
"A huge, fat man will come on the Day of Judgment but he will not weigh with Allah the wing of a mosquito."

❽ Al-Bayhaqī narrates with the wording:
ليـؤتيـن يـوم القيامة بالعظيم الطويل الأكول الشروب فلا يزن عند الله جناح بعوضة
"On the Day of Judgment, a tall, huge man who used to eat and drink excessively will be brought, yet he will not weigh with Allah the wing of a mosquito."

Avoid Eating to Excess
