๐ฉ Condemnation of Pride, Arrogance, and Self-Conceit in Islam

Islamic teachings strictly prohibit arrogance, pride, and self-conceit. The Qurโan and Sunnah harshly condemn these destructive traits and elevate the values of humility and modesty. Such characteristics lead to ruin, disgrace, and alienation from Allah's mercy.
"ูููุงู ุชูู ูุดู ููู ุงูุฃูุฑูุถู ู ูุฑูุญูุง ุฅูููู ุงูููููู ูุงู ููุญูุจูู ููููู ู ูุฎูุชูุงูู ููุฎููุฑู"
(Surah Luqmฤn: 18)
Translation: โDo not walk proudly upon the earth. Indeed, Allah does not love the arrogant and boastful.โ
This verse forbids prideful behavior, clearly stating that Allah dislikes those filled with self-conceit and arrogance.
"ููุงุนูุจูุฏููุง ุงูููููู ูููุงู ุชูุดูุฑููููุง ุจููู ุดูููุฆูุง... ุฅูููู ุงูููููู ูุงู ููุญูุจูู ู ููู ููุงูู ู ูุฎูุชูุงูุงู ููุฎููุฑูุง"
(Surah al-Nisฤสพ: 36)
Translation: โWorship Allah and associate nothing with Himโฆ Indeed, Allah does not love the arrogant and boastful.โ
This verse links worship, kindness, and humility, and condemns arrogance and pride.
"ููููููู ู ุงููููููุงู ูุฉู ุชูุฑูู ุงูููุฐูููู ููุฐูุจููุง ุนูููู ุงูููููู ููุฌููููููู ู ููุณูููุฏููุฉู... ุฃูููููุณู ููู ุฌููููููู ู ู ูุซูููู ูููููู ูุชูููุจููุฑูููู"
(Surah al-Zumar: 60)
Translation: โAnd on the Day of Judgment, you will see those who lied against Allah โ their faces will be darkenedโฆ Is there not in Hell a dwelling for the arrogant?โ
โ This verse shows the disgraceful fate of the arrogant on the Day of Judgment โ darkened faces and Hellfire.
Narrated by สฟAbdullฤh ibn Masสฟลซd (ุฑุถู ุงููู ุนูู), the Prophet ๏ทบ said:
"ููุง ููุฏูุฎููู ุงููุฌููููุฉู ู ููู ููุงูู ููู ููููุจููู ู ูุซูููุงูู ุฐูุฑููุฉู ู ููู ููุจูุฑู"
(แนขaแธฅฤซแธฅ Muslim)
Translation: โNo one who has even an atomโs weight of pride in his heart will enter Paradise.โ
Even a trace of pride can become a barrier to Paradise.
Narrated by Abลซ Hurayrah (ุฑุถู ุงููู ุนูู), the Prophet ๏ทบ said:
"ุงููููุจูุฑู ุฑูุฏูุงุฆููุ ููุงููุนูุธูู ูุฉู ุฅูุฒูุงุฑููุ ููู ููู ููุงุฒูุนูููู ููุงุญูุฏูุง ู ูููููู ูุงุ ุฃูููููููุชููู ููู ุงููููุงุฑู"
(แนขaแธฅฤซแธฅ Muslim)
Translation: โPride is My cloak and greatness is My garment. Whoever tries to compete with Me in either, I will cast him into the Fire.โ
Pride and grandeur are exclusive attributes of Allah. Any human claiming them earns severe punishment.
Narrated by Jฤbir ibn สฟAbdullฤh (ุฑุถู ุงููู ุนูู), the Prophet ๏ทบ said:
"ููุญูุดูุฑู ุงููู ูุชูููุจููุฑูููู ููููู ู ุงููููููุงู ูุฉู ุฃูู ูุซูุงูู ุงูุฐููุฑูู ููู ุตูููุฑู ุงูุฑููุฌูุงููุ ููุบูุดูุงููู ู ุงูุฐููููู"
(Sunan al-Tirmidhฤซ)
Translation: โThe arrogant will be gathered on the Day of Judgment like ants in the form of men, overrun by disgrace.โ
Visual imagery of disgrace: the arrogant will appear insignificant and trampled underfoot.
Pharaoh claimed divinity and boasted of his power, yet Allah destroyed him and his army as a lesson for all.
"ููุฃูุฎูุฐูููุงูู ููุฌููููุฏููู ููููุจูุฐูููุงููู ู ููู ุงููููู ูู... ููุงูุธูุฑู ูููููู ููุงูู ุนูุงููุจูุฉู ุงูุธููุงููู ูููู"
(Surah al-Qaแนฃaแนฃ: 39โ40)
Translation: โSo We seized him and his armies and threw them into the seaโฆ So look at the end of the wrongdoers.โ
This verse reflects the disastrous consequences of pride, arrogance, and rebellion against Allah.

Surah Luqmฤn (31:18):

โ Condemnation of Arrogance in the Hadith
Hadith 1 โ Pride prevents Paradise
Narrated by สฟAbdullฤh ibn Masสฟลซd (ุฑุถู ุงููู ุนูู), the Prophet ๏ทบ said:
"ููุง ููุฏูุฎููู ุงููุฌููููุฉู ู ููู ููุงูู ููู ููููุจููู ู ูุซูููุงูู ุฐูุฑููุฉู ู ููู ููุจูุฑู"
(แนขaแธฅฤซแธฅ Muslim)

Hadith 2 โ Pride belongs only to Allah

โ The Example of Pharaoh and Other Arrogant Tyrants
The Fate of Pharaoh
Pharaoh claimed divinity and boasted of his power, yet Allah destroyed him and his army as a lesson for all.
"ููุฃูุฎูุฐูููุงูู ููุฌููููุฏููู ููููุจูุฐูููุงููู ู ููู ุงููููู ูู... ููุงูุธูุฑู ูููููู ููุงูู ุนูุงููุจูุฉู ุงูุธููุงููู ูููู"
(Surah al-Qaแนฃaแนฃ: 39โ40)
