Islamic Rulings and Punishments for Adultery and Homosexuality

Ruling on Those Who Refrain from Participating in the Stoning of an Adulterer Out of Mercy

It is not obligatory for every individual present to participate in the act of stoning. However, refraining from participating due to sympathy or mercy for the adulterer is sinful. Allah Almighty states:

"The woman and the man guilty of fornication—flog each one of them with a hundred lashes. Let not pity for them hold you back in a matter prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of believers witness their punishment."

(Surah An-Nur: 2)

This verse emphasizes that there should be no leniency in implementing the divine rulings if one truly believes in Allah and the Last Day.

Ruling on Lesbianism (Homosexuality Among Women)

Homosexuality between women (lesbianism) is prohibited in Islam and is considered a major sin. This act goes against the commands of Allah as outlined in the following verse:

"And they who guard their private parts except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors."

(Surah Al-Ma'arij: 29–31)

The above verse categorically forbids any sexual acts outside the bounds of lawful marriage or ownership, deeming them acts of transgression.
