❖ Extracted from the book “

✿ Parents Must Not Allow Their Daughters to Travel Without a Maḥram ✿

Arabic Text:

عن عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:
«لَا تُسَافِرِ الْمَرْأَةُ إِلَّا مَعَ ذِي مَحْرَمٍ»

Translation:

ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“A woman must not travel except with a maḥram.”
📚 Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim – Kitāb al-Ḥajj – Chapter: A Woman's Travel with a Maḥram for Ḥajj and Other Journeys: 3272

❖ Important Note ❖

Those female teachers and preachers (muʿallimāt and muballighāt) who travel to other regions without a maḥram under the banner of daʿwah and preaching should fear Allah. Similarly, women who undertake Ḥajj or ʿUmrah without a maḥram should also fear Allah, as such travel is impermissible in Islam.

◈ Key Points:

The Prophet ﷺ categorically prohibited women from travelling without a maḥram.
This ruling applies to all forms of travel—be it for religious or worldly purposes.
Even travel for noble objectives like teaching or daʿwah does not exempt a woman from this ruling.
Parents hold the responsibility of ensuring their daughters do not violate this Sharʿī restriction.
