Wearing an Iron Ring in Islam

What is the ruling on wearing an iron ring?
❖ Answer
Wearing an iron ring is permissible. There is no authentic prohibition established in the Sharīʿah regarding it. However, some Ḥanafī scholars have written that wearing an iron ring is makrūh, while others declared it ḥarām. The evidences presented for this view are weak and unauthentic.
❖ Scholarly Opinions
◈ Ibn Māzah al-Ḥanafī (d. 616H):
((أما التختم بالحديد والرصاص والصفر والشبه فهو حرام على النساء والرجال جميعا))
“As for wearing rings of iron, lead, copper, or brass, it is ḥarām for both men and women.”

◈ Mufti Taqī ʿUthmānī (Deobandi scholar) also stated:
“According to the Ḥanafīs, iron, brass, and similar rings are ḥarām.”
