Ruling on the Use of Gold and Silver Utensils

What is the ruling on using utensils made of gold and silver?
❀ Answer:
Using gold and silver utensils for eating, drinking, or purification (wudu/ghusl) is haram. This ruling applies to both men and women.
❀ Narration of Hudhayfah (RA):
لا تشربوا فى آنية الذهب والفضة
"Do not drink from gold and silver utensils."

❀ Narration of Umm Salamah (RA):
الذي يشرب فى إناء الفضة إنما يجرجر فى بطنه نار جهنم
"Whoever drinks from a silver utensil is only gulping down the fire of Hell into his stomach."

❀ Imam al-Nawawi (رح, d. 676H) said:
إن الإجماع منعقد على تحريم استعمال إناء الذهب وإناء الفضة فى الأكل والشرب والطهارة
"There is consensus on the prohibition of using gold and silver utensils for eating, drinking, or purification."
