Ruling on Swearing by Angels

Question:
What is the ruling on swearing by angels?
Answer:
Angels are created beings, and it is not permissible to swear an oath by any created being.
❀ Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله (728H) said:
أما الملائكة فاتفق المسلمون على أنه لا يحلف بأحد منهم ولا تنعقد اليمين إذا حلف به.
“As for the angels, the Muslims are unanimously agreed that one cannot swear by any of them, and if one does so, the oath is not valid.”
(al-Radd ʿalā al-Ikhnāʾī, p. 219)
