It is permissible to lend gold, whether:
The borrower is obligated to repay the same weight of gold, regardless of:
This transaction is free from any prohibition, In shā’ Allāh, and reflects the spirit of cooperation among Muslims.
You are entitled to receive only the same quantity of gold that you originally lent—regardless of whether the price has increased or decreased.

❖ Ruling on Lending Gold
It is permissible to lend gold, whether:
- By weight (e.g., by kilogram), or
- In the form of gold coins or bullion
The borrower is obligated to repay the same weight of gold, regardless of:
- Whether it is in the form of gold bars, coins, or any other form
- Any change in market value—the amount repaid must be equal in weight, not in value
This transaction is free from any prohibition, In shā’ Allāh, and reflects the spirit of cooperation among Muslims.
