Exchanging Eid Greetings: Islamic Ruling and Suggested Phrases
Source: Fatāwā Arkān al-Islām
What is the ruling on exchanging greetings on the day of Eid? Are there any specific words prescribed for Eid greetings?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʾAmma baʿd:
It is permissible to exchange greetings on the day of Eid. However, there are no specific words reported from the Prophet ﷺ for this purpose.
✿ This means that people may use any expressions customary in their language and culture.
✿ Provided these expressions contain nothing sinful or contrary to Shariah, such greetings are perfectly permissible.
Therefore, exchanging greetings on Eid is a permissible act, and there is no obligation to use specific supplications or fixed phrases.
