Islamic Ruling on Donkey’s Milk and Its Permissibility

Is Donkey’s Milk Permissible? Detailed Islamic Ruling

Source: Aḥkām wa Masāʾil, Aḥkām regarding Food & Drink, Vol. 1, Page 448

❖ Question

Is donkey’s milk ḥalāl or ḥarām?

❖ Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!

Donkey’s milk is ḥarām, just as the meat of domesticated donkeys is ḥarām. Since the female donkey belongs to the same category as domesticated donkeys, its milk is also deemed ḥarām.

However, ḥumur waḥshī (wild donkeys) are ḥalāl. Their meat and usage are permissible, as they are distinct from domesticated donkeys. The aḥādīth and statements of the jurists clearly differentiate between the two.
