Islamic Ruling on a Child Born Out of Wedlock

In Islam, a child born as a result of zina (fornication or adultery) is considered innocent and blameless. Although the act leading to the child’s birth is a sin, the child himself or herself bears no responsibility or stigma in the eyes of Shariah.

✿ Equal Rights and Dignity​

Such a child is granted all the rights that any other Muslim child receives. Islamic law upholds the child's dignity and humanity without holding them accountable for the actions of the parents.

✔ Adhan and Iqamah​

It is permissible and valid to say the Adhan in the right ear and Iqamah in the left ear of a child born out of zina, just as is done with any other Muslim newborn. This act signifies the child’s inclusion in the Muslim Ummah.

✔ Funeral Prayer and Burial​

If the child passes away, it is mandatory to:
➊ Perform the Janazah (funeral) prayer for the child.
➋ Bury the child in a Muslim graveyard.

No distinction is made in this regard because the child is innocent and pure. Shariah clearly distinguishes between the sinner and the one born as a result of sin.
