❀ Wudu as a Condition for the Funeral Prayer ❀

❖ Question:
Is wudu a condition for performing the funeral prayer (ṣalāt al-janāzah)?
❖ Answer:
Wudu is a condition for every prayer, and since the funeral prayer is also a prayer, wudu is required for it as well.
❖ Statement of ʿAllāmah Ibn al-ʿArabī (رحمه الله, 543H):
اتفقوا على أن الطهارة لها فرض.
“The scholars are unanimously agreed that purification (wudu) is obligatory for it (the funeral prayer).”
