Is There Any Connection Between Camels and Jinn?
Answer:
Sayyiduna Abu Lās Khuzā‘ī رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed us on camels designated for charity and said:
[Musnad Ahmad, Hadith No. 221/4; Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, Hadith No. 1377]
“There is no camel except that a devil is upon its hump. So, when you ride them, do so by mentioning the name of Allah, in accordance with His command. Utilize them for your service, for indeed, it is Allah who enables them to carry you.”
Sayyiduna Usāmah bin Zayd رضي الله عنه heard the Prophet ﷺ say:
[Sahih al-Jāmi‘, Hadith No. 4031]
“There is a devil on the back of every camel. So when you mount them, do so by mentioning the name of Allah, the Almighty, and do not fall short in fulfilling your needs.”
The implication of a devil being upon every camel is that it may either be on its head or upon its hump. By invoking the remembrance of Allah, the devil is humiliated and disgraced. Thus, make use of these camels for your tasks and services. Indeed, Allah ﷻ has subjugated them for servitude and for the transport of His servants. Therefore, whether in religious or worldly terms, any benefit they provide should not be neglected; rather, the intended benefit should be derived from them.
